Wedding Inn: An Indigenous Matrimonial Service

Since the early days of civilization we humans have been ideologically conditioned to be fixated on the idea of marriage. What started as a simplistic solution to the problem of progeniture has evolved into an institution in itself with several diverse traditions across several cultural demographics and one of the most perennial and lucrative industry there is today. Although the idea of marriage is not as sacrosanct as it used to be in most parts of the world, it still hasn't lost its luster in India. Even if you are not from there, if you have ever been to an Indian wedding, you'll know what i mean.

As a young guy in India, one of the most frequent questions you are asked is " Are you married?" followed by " when are you getting married?" which irks me to a certain extent but you get used to it over time. With the advent of online match-making and matrimonial sites over the last decade, the Indian marriage industry has become extremely streamlined. A lot of Indians today are turning to the online medium in a search for a "Jeevansaathi"(life-partner) as they call it, with varying degrees of success. I am still not sold on the concept of online matrimony but a recent chance encounter with an entrepreneur Kunal Bhandari, who is in the process of starting up his own online matrimonial business, has certainly improved my understanding of how the whole online "Shaadi" business works. Kunal is a young guy in his mid-twenties and the founder of Wedding Inn, a community based organization focused on providing Matrimonial match-making to targeted culture-based demographics. India is a nation where a wide variety of cultures with diverse ideologies and traditions co-exist and even in this day and age you'd be surprised with the amount of people for whom the community and cultural background is an important factor when looking for their partner. When I questioned Kunal about my doubts on the online matrimony business, specifically the fact that the concept of marriage has been reduced to going through a list of profiles making it an almost mechanical process, He explained that the whole online matrimony business isn't just about giving their users relevant information to make the most important decision of their life but also to facilitate the process of courting and providing an environment for like-minded people to get to know each-other before making an informed decision and that his matrimony service at-least is focused on adding a personal touch to it to make it less "mechanical" as i put it. He further added that they are doing more than just matching profiles, they have organized a "Parichay Sammelan"(community get-together) for their users and invited me to give it a try or even join just to have a look at what they actually do.

I am not planning on getting married anytime soon, but i am still going to go to their "sammelan" just to see what the big fuss is about. If you are a single guy/girl looking to get married give Wedding Inn a try, who knows you might get lucky.
